Robert D. "Rob" Mankhey

  Robert Dean “Rob” Mankhey, 53, of South Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Mohr & Becker Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.   Rob was born on November 24, 1969 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Dean and Kaye Mankhey. He was raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where he graduated from Scottsbluff Senior High School. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Following his graduation from Nebraska, Rob remained a resident of Lincoln for many years.

  On November 12, 2022 he married Noelia De Leon in Dakota City.

  Rob was an elder member of the Scottsbluff Presbyterian Church, a Little League baseball coach, and a big and proud Huskers fan. He loved college football in general, but his allegiance was to Nebraska.

  He is survived by his wife, Noelia Mankhey; mother, Kaye Mankhey; children: Emma and Will Mankhey; step-daughters: Julie, Lizette, Alexis, and Ana; brother, Matt Mankhey; and his loving pet dog (and Robert’s best friend) Rocky.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Mankhey.
