Robert A. “Bob” Lennon, 85, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Unity Point Hospital following a brief illness. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
Bob was born in Sioux City to the late Richard and Mary (Fitzgibbons) Lennon on October 5, 1939 as the youngest sibling with 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Regis College. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1962 – 1968.
Bob married the love of his life, Deirdre “Dee” Lennon on June 5, 1965, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The two raised their family in Sioux City. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Bob worked various roles across local financial institutions until he took on a few unfulfilling semi-retirement jobs until he fully retired.
Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed both playing and watching golf and belonged for several years to Hidden Acres where Bob achieved the ultimate hole-in-one. He was a long-time season ticket holder for the Musketeers, and a fan of Penn Corp/NHCD men’s fastpitch, the Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Bob also cherished spending time with family and friends, especially having morning coffee with his HyVee mug club and going for apple pie and ice cream on Thursdays.
Those left to continue his legacy are his loving children, Patrick (Jinky) Lennon of Tempe, AZ and Kim (Zane) Lennon of Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Cameron (Ashley) Lennon and Channing Lennon; great grandson, Oliver Lennon; sister, Eileen (Charlie) Johnson Prochelo; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dee Lennon; granddaughter, Caitlyn Lennon; and siblings, Sally Deaton, Dick Lennon, and Mike Lennon.
