Obituary

Robert Ralph “Bobby” Kuehl III, 33, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Spirit Lake, after his courageous battle with addiction.

Born on March 4, 1992, in Sioux City, the son of Robert Kuehl Jr. and Kimberly (Persinger) Kuehl, Bobby was a beloved member of his family, friend group, and community, leaving an indelible mark on all those who knew him.

Bobby graduated from Heelan High School in 2010, furthering his passion for cars by attending WITCC for Autobody Repair. His love for working on cars reflected his practical nature and deep-seated desire to engage with the world around him. Beyond his technical skills, Bobby was known for his warm-hearted personality, often referred to as an "old soul." He possessed a remarkable kindness, particularly towards animals, and had a knack for caring for them with devotion and love.

Bobby's interests were diverse and reflected his joyous spirit. He enjoyed cooking and found tranquility in taking care of fish, a testament to his nurturing side. An avid collector of shoes, Bobby also wore his heart on his sleeve, proudly supporting his favorite teams: the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Green Bay Packers. He had a special fondness for Okoboji, where he cherished the moments spent on the water, embracing the serenity that nature offered.

Above all, Bobby's most proud accomplishments were centered around his desire to help others. Even during his struggles, he demonstrated a giving spirit by providing essential items to those in treatment and assisting them in their journey toward recovery. His legacy of empathy and compassion continues to inspire those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him. Bobby fought this courageous battle, that most don’t understand – and he never gave up.

Bobby is survived by his loving family, including his father Robert Kuehl and his wife Kathy, his mother Kim Kuehl, his brother Kristopher Goeden, his brother Kane Kuehl and his wife Mandy and their children: Carter, serving in Kuwait with the 185th, Charlie, Milly, and Elsy; a sister Kelsey Rupert and brother Kristopher Goeden and his wife Amber and their children Krew and Slater.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, an aunt, and an uncle.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to help cover expenses and continue Bobby’s legacy by making donations to various treatment centers to help those in need.
