Robert "Bob" Joseph Ryan

Robert Joseph “Bob” Ryan, 56 of Ponca, Nebraska passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at a local hospital.  A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Chaplain Janell Norton officiating.  Visitation, with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Bob was born on September 27, 1966 in Sioux City, Iowa to John R. “Jack” and Rose Marie “Boots” (Boden) Ryan.  He graduated from Ponca High School with the Class of 1985.  He continued his education at North East Community College, receiving an associate’s degree in electronics.  Bob lived in Everett, Washington from 1988 until 1994, where he met his future wife.   Bob married Leah Rosenberg on December 8, 1990 in Lynnwood, Washington; the couple enjoyed 32 years and 3 months together.  In 1994 the couple moved to Marysville, Washington and in 2006 to Bellevue, Washington.  During his stay out west, Bob worked at Boeing Airplane Manufacturing.  The couple moved to Jackson, Nebraska in 2006, and Bob worked at the ISS Facilities until 2022. 

Bob was a fun-loving man, who adored his wife Leah, son Jacob, and granddaughter Zoey.  Bob was skilled and passionate about computers and electronic things.  He was always available to assist when asked or was needed.  Bob was very thoughtful, always thinking, very quiet (when he wasn’t talking, he was thinking).

Bob is survived by his wife Leah; son Jacob A. Ryan of Ponca, Nebraska; granddaughter Zoey Ryan of South Sioux City, Nebraska; brothers Daniel “Dan” (Bonnie) Ryan of Jackson, Nebraska, Michael Edward “Ed” Ryan of Dundee, Oregon, William “Bill” Ryan of Sioux City, Iowa; sisters Catherine (Dennis) Hurley of Ponca, Nebraska, Mary (Richard “Dick”) Watchorn of Ponca, Nebraska, and Margaret “Margie” (Terry) Greschae; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
