Robert Dean Blohm, 80, of Allen, NE passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at the Wakefield Health Care Center after a long illness. Bob was born on October 12, 1945 in Sioux City, IA. He was the son of Rudolph and Margaret (Lass) Blohm.
Bob was raised on a farm and attended Breezy Hill country school through 8th grade. He attended Allen High School and graduated in 1963. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concord, NE.
In 1966, Bob married Karen Isom. Together they had two children, Kristine and Brent.
Bob served with the 185th Tactical Fighter Group out of Sioux City. He was deployed to Alamogordo, New Mexico during the Vietnam War.
After returning home, Bob started farming the Isom family farm east of Allen. In 1975 the family moved to a farm west of Allen where Bob continued farming until his retirement. Bob also worked at the University of Nebraska Experiment Station from 2003-2013.
Bob loved animals, especially the many dogs he had throughout his life. He could train a dog to do any kind of trick. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. His favorite games were “31”, pitch and throwing quarters at the ruler. Bob loved the outdoors and nature. His favorite place to vacation was the Black Hills.
Those left to cherish Bob’s memory include his wife, Karen Blohm of Allen, NE, daughter Kristine (Doug) Schrad of Sergeant Bluff, IA and son Brent Blohm of Allen NE, granddaughters Emily Schrad of Cedar Rapids, IA and Kylie Schrad of South Sioux City, NE, sisters Gloriann Oberg of Wakefied, NE, Karen (Ken) Anderson of Allen, NE, brother-in-law Sam (Delores) Isom of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law Anne Isom-Steube of Laurel, NE along with several nieces and nephews as well as his beloved dogs, Tucker and Toby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Margaret Blohm, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Claren and Ella Isom, brother-in-laws, Ron Isom, Robert Oberg and Harlan Anderson and sister-in-law Verlyn Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (3204 S Lakeport Street, Sioux City, IA 51106) on Saturday, February 7 at 2:30 p.m.
