Ricky "Rick" Hansen

Ricky “Rick” Hansen of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, May 2, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born on March 27, 1950, in Salem, South Dakota, Rick graduated from South Sioux City High School and received his Business degree from Morningside College. He spent more than 50 years as a commodities broker, a profession he deeply enjoyed. He valued his clients and the lasting friendships he built with them over the years.

In his free time, Rick was an avid golfer who spent as much time on the course as possible. He also loved animals - especially dogs - and supported organizations like the ASPCA, while owning many dogs throughout his life.

Rick is survived by his children, Erika Hansen of Bennington, Nebraska, and Alex Hansen of Gretna, Nebraska; and his grandchildren, Keller Newton of Sioux City, Iowa, and Avery and Ella Hansen of Gretna, Nebraska.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Eunice Hansen, and his brother, Jim Hansen.

A memorial service will be held at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00am, with visitation at 9:00am.
