Richard Raymond Lane

September 14, 1931 — January 19, 2023

Richard Raymond Lane, 91, of South Sioux City, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at his residence.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Reverend Beth Hamilton officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Rich was born September 14, 1931 in Sioux City, the son of Raymond and Golda (Davis) Lane.  He graduated from East High School in 1950 and attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL.  Rich was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953.  While at Thackers Roller Rink in South Sioux City, Rich met Marilyn South, and after “just asking her to skate”, the couple starting dating.  He married Marilyn on February 1, 1953 in Sioux City.  Rich and Marilyn owned and operated Top’s TV in South Sioux City, where he repaired and sold TVs until retirement.  The couple also were members of the Floor Shiner Skate Club.  Rich was a model railroader, an avid Nebraska Huskers and Kansas City Chiefs fan, and loved his yardwork and took great pride in his beautiful yard.  

Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Marilyn Lane; children:  David Lane (Robert Davey) of Ponca, NE, Ronald Lane of South Sioux City, Dennis (Erin) Lane of Ft. Calhoun, NE, Cathy (Marc) Fugleberg of Papillion, NE, and Susie (Terry) Mogensen of Ponca, NE; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; his sister LaVonne Spencer of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard would want everyone to be comfortable and so the family requests casual attire for the visitation and funeral service.

The family would like to thank Michelle and the staff at Hospice of Siouxland for their compassionate care and guidance.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland in Rich’s memory.
