Richard was born on June 6, 1950 in Plainview, NE to Clarence and Genevieve Hall. He grew up on a farm with his older brother, Jerry, and his younger sister, Pam. Richard attended country school and graduated from Creighton High School in 1968.

Richard met the love of his life and his wife of 44 years, Jeanne, in church. After their first date, ever the romantic and determined for a kiss, he asked Jeanne if she had ever kissed a hairlip. It was love at first laugh. Four months later, Richard and Jeanne were married on May 4, 1980 in Creighton, NE.

Richard started Hall Paper in 1982. Through a lot of hard work and dedication, he expanded and relocated the business from Omaha to Sioux City and renamed it Siouxland Recovery in 1987.  Richard always championed the underdog and was never afraid to take a risk on people or opportunities. Even as the boss, Richard was always ready and willing to work right alongside his employees.

Soon, Richard and Jeanne welcomed their son, Brett, and two years later, their daughter Genna.  Richard was an incredible father. One of the most wonderful things that happened was his children both worked with him at Siouxland Recovery. It was a dream come true for Richard to see his kids every day and work beside them.

Richard also loved being a grandpa. He was a natural at it. His four grandchildren, Owen, Henry, Elliot and Emma, were infatuated with him. The feeling was mutual. Richard would move a mountain if it meant being there for his grandkids.

Richard loved to fish. He especially loved fishing with his grandsons. He also loved gardening. He enjoyed sharing his produce with his family, friends, and employees. He always had the most delicious tomatoes from his garden.

Richard was the foundation of his family. He and Jeanne built a beautiful family together. The loss of his resounding laughter feels impossible. Richard and Jeanne loved to go antiquing. They spent their last Saturday together doing just that.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanne Hall of Hinton, IA; son, Brett (Mara) Hall of Sioux City, IA; daughter, Genna (Brad) Harson of Hinton, IA; grandchildren, Owen and Henry Harson and Elliot and Emma Hall; brother, Jerry (Jan) Hall of Great Falls, MT, sister, Pam (Kit) Kelley of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and dear friends that he loved.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, mother, infant brother, father-in-law and mother-in-law (Jim and Elaine White), brother-in-law Edwin White, and great-nephew Jordon White.
