Richard Marvin “Dick” Andersen, 68, of Maurice, IA, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 22nd. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with a visitation on Thursday from 4-6:30, and a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rich was born Sept. 7, 1955 in Sioux City, IA, to Richard Fredrick & Betty Jo (James) Andersen. He spent the first 10 years of his life on a farm outside of South Sioux City, NE, attending a 2 room school house. The family moved to Leeds in 1966 where he made friends he still has today. He attended Hawthorne & Leeds, graduating in the first class from North High School in 1973.
Rich married the love of his life, Carla Jean Goldsmith on July 10, 1981. He joined Laborers' Local #427 in 1974 until his retirement in 2005, working most of those years for W.A. Klinger Construction. He also served a number of years as the business agent for his union. He & his wife Carla also owned rental property until 2005 when they sold it all to purchase Andersen's Valley View Resort in Branson West, MO. They enjoyed running that, meeting new people & making great memories with family & friends at the resort for 15 years, until retiring in 2020 to move back home, finally settling in Maurice, IA.
Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing & woodworking. He was the most versatile handyman. There was nothing he couldn't fix! Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family & friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 43 yrs., Carla, his 3 beloved children, Tracy (Mark) Reineke, Richard F. Andersen & Jennifer (Josh) Stultz & his precious grandchildren, Brianna & Madeline Reineke, Zoey Andersen & Jeremiah & Jovie Stultz, Katrina Shotswell, Thomas Andersen & Serina Mailes. Rich also left behind his only sister, Mildred (Gary) Beck & many nieces, nephews, extended family & many wonderful friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws & 2 nephews.
