With Military Honors Presented By The United States Air Force Reserve.
Rex Marshall Fischer, 68, of Sioux City, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026, following a lengthy battle with lung disease.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial with Military Honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born on July 13, 1957, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Gloria (Kreamer) Fischer, Rex’s life was marked by service, adventure, and a deep love for those close to him.
Rex graduated from Sioux Center High School and soon thereafter answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He proudly dedicated 22 years of service until his retirement in 2003. His commitment extended beyond his military career as a cherished member of the American Legion, embodying loyalty and patriotism throughout his life. Rex married Lana (Junck) Lake on August 11, 1997, in Elk Point, South Dakota.
Fun-loving with a quietly ornery streak and a delightfully dry sense of humor, Rex brought a unique spirit to every room he entered. His adventurous nature led to the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson, the friendly competition of golf, pool, and darts, and, in later years, the patience and focus required to assemble intricate 3D puzzles. These pastimes reflected a man who embraced life fully - finding joy in both the thrill and the quiet moments.
Rex’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his wife, Lana Fischer; his children, Joshua (Laura) Fischer, Kelly Fischer, Daniel (Nicki) Fischer, and Bobbi Lake; and ten beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Scott (Vicki) Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gloria Fischer, and his children Richard and Jennifer Lake.
