Raymond G. Hinz, 87 of Newcastle, Nebraska passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 6:00 P.M.

Ray was born the son of Charley and Emma (Voss) Hinz on December 17, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended school in Waterbury, Nebraska. Ray married Patricia Rasmussen on June 1, 1958 in Newcastle, Nebraska. They had two sons, Roy and Carl. Patricia passed away in 1986. Ray later married Doris Lewon.

Ray farmed for many years and raised cattle. He also drove school bus and worked at Marron’s Service Station.

He enjoyed deer hunting and tinkering on antique cars.

Ray is survived by his son, Carl (Brenda) Hinz of Newcastle; grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Nelson, Heather (Michael) Schweers, Jacob (Paige) Hinz, Jeremiah (Julie) Hinz and Jenny (Craig) Rolfes; many great grandchildren; sister, Selma Schrader; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Patricia and Doris; son, Roy; sister, Lucille; and brothers, Virgil and Wilbur.
