Phillip Fredrick Thompson, 72, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Phillip was born on January 29, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of James and Leona (Klenke) Thompson. He graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in 1971.

Following graduation, Phillip spent most of his working life in the construction industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in a job well done. His career reflected his dedication to providing for his family and his commitment to honest, hard work.

Phillip was married to the love of his life, Mary Pat (O’Neill) for nearly 50 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family. He was a devoted father to his two children, Courtnee and Nick, and took great pride in his role as a dad.

One of Phillip’s greatest joys was being a grandfather. He cherished time spent with his three grandchildren, Lauren, Molly, and Aaron, especially during Christmas holidays and summer visits, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. He also shared a close and special bond with his son-in-law, Dennis, and the two especially enjoyed golfing together, spending meaningful time talking and enjoying each other’s company.

Outside of family, Phillip found joy in the open road. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a passion that reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for freedom. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, cheering them on with pride.

Phillip is survived by his sister, Marg Chartier, brother, Pat and his wife Nancy, brother, Mike and his wife Margie, sister, Kathleen, brother, Chuck and his wife Staci, and brother, Danny and his wife Marilee; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Pat; his parents, James and Leona Thompson; his parents-in-law, Roseann (O’Kane) O’Neill and Eugene O’Neill; and brother-in-law, James Chartier.

Phillip will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hardworking nature, and the love he shared throughout his life. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
