Peter A. Jansen

Peter A. Jansen, 92, of Sioux City passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at a local hospital. 

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Del Olivier officiating.  Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. 

Peter was born December 27, 1929 in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Martin and Annie (Florke) Jansen.  He grew up in the Anthon/Oto area and then enlisted in the United States Army in February of 1948.  After being honorably discharged from the military, Peter started his career with the Chicago North Western Railroad, where he continued worked for 39 years, retiring in 1989.  Peter married Violet Johnson on September 28, 1960 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  She preceded him in on April 5, 2014.

Peter enjoyed fishing and dancing, and was a fanatic about his yard, but Peter’s truest passion was his family and the enjoyment he found spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. 

Survivors include his children:  Duane Willfong, Michael Norgelas and wife Gina, Charlene Johnson, Linda Jansen, Cindy Sherrill, and Julie Jansen; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Violet, daughter Deanna Mahr, great grandson Connor Michael Norgelas, eight brothers, and one sister.
