Peggy passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 15, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson, South Dakota with Father Joe Vogel as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation, with family present, will be two hours prior at the Church on Friday. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family. Peggy was born in Sioux City, Iowa on August 24, 1937 to Evelyn (Pfiel) and Frank Echols of Sioux City, Iowa. Soon after she was born, her mother took ill. Her Grandparents, Louis and Gertrude Pfiel raised her until their deaths in 1955. After that she lived with her mom. Peggy graduated from Heelan High School in 1955. After High school she went to work in an office until she met the love of her life, Alfred LaCroix and they Married on Nov 22, 1958. Together they raised five children; Jackie, Renee, Jeff, Michelle, and Julie. They lived in Cedar Rapids until 1975 when they moved back to Jefferson to the farm.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She never drove but when her kids started driving, she was the one to show them how to navigate around Sioux City. After raising her own kids, she helped in taking care of her grandkids. Her great grandkids loved visiting her and raiding her cookie jar.

Those left to honor her memory include her 5 children, Jacqueline (Neil) Honomichl of Jefferson, South Dakota, Renee (Mark) Begnoche of Jefferson, South Dakota, Jeff (Kendra) LaCroix from Raymore, Missouri, Michelle (Kevin) Hueser of Elk Point, South Dakota and Julie (Joey) Collins of Brookings, South Dakota. 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. Sister in laws, Frances McCabe and Teresa Pohlen both of Lincoln, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred LaCroix. parents, grandparents, one sister-in-law, 2 brother-in-laws, aunts and uncles.
