Paul Ray Wilcoxon, 52, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 25, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Mater Dei Nativity Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. all held at the church. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.
Paul was born on July 15, 1971, to Frank and Sharisue (Sandau) Wilcoxon in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended Lincoln Elementary and Hoover Middle Schools. After completing high school at North High, Paul attended Briar Cliff University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1994.
Paul and Carrie (Kessenich) met early in their college years. They married on August 11, 2000, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City and later relocated to Sergeant Bluff, where they raised their three children. Paul's greatest joy was spending time with his family, friends, and beloved dog, Jax. His childhood love of Matchbox cars was the beginning of an even bigger affinity for his sports cars and trucks. Together with his family, he traveled coast to coast, exploring the mountains of national parks with frequent stops at Disney World. He also loved his animals, projects around the house, boating, golfing, motorcycling, country music, movie nights, and hot fudge sundaes.
Paul began his 29-year career with Terra/CF Industries in 1995. He served in numerous roles, including supply analyst, product manager, and his most recent position as manager of natural gas. He assisted through the Terra/CF Industries merger in 2010 and began traveling between home and Illinois. His dedication and loyalty to the company were evident. He enjoyed many friendships throughout his career and became known for his humor and quick wit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to them for future designation in Paul's name.Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 24 years, Carrie of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa; his three children, Megan, Madison, and Nathan of Sgt. Bluff; his mother, Sharisue Wilcoxon of Sioux City; sister, Peggi (John) Allenback of Ankeny, Iowa; his father-in-law, Stanley Kessenich of Le Mars, Iowa; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Rose (Duff) Coleman of Monticello, Iowa, Ann (Chad) Kelly of Dubuque, Iowa, Joe (Kathleen) Kessenich of Le Mars, Dennis Kessenich of Le Mars, Teresa (Charles) Oetken of Le Mars, Cindy (Rusty) Price of Le Mars, Lisa Robins (Dave Ruden) of Champaign, Illinois, and Chris (Dawn) Kessenich of Kingsley, Iowa; 30 nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Karen Wilcoxon of Hinton, Iowa, Tom (Kathy) Sandau of Elk Point, South Dakota, Becca Sandau of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Roger L. Sandau (Cynthia Engel) of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Frank Wilcoxon; mother-in-law, Roselene Kessenich; sister-in-law, Carol Kessenich; maternal grandparents, Paul and Peggy Sandau; paternal grandparents, Hank and Margaret Wilcoxon; uncle, Gene Wilcoxon; uncle, Jake Sandau; and aunt, Chris Sandau. He was also preceded in death by his special friends, Tony Lorenzen and Jason Schwebach.
