Paul O. Wiig, 88 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.  Visitation, with the family present, will begin at Noon on Thursday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Paul was born on July 5, 1935, in rural Allen, Nebraska to Floyd and Ruth (Aglor) Wiig.  He graduated from Allen High School with the Class of 1953.  Paul served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1957. 

Paul was a talented mechanic and a master of his trade.  He started in 1962 at AWD as a service technician.  Paul married Janet McClure in 1985 along the river in rural Elk Point, South Dakota.  The AWD changed hands a few times, once to Case, and again by Poirior Equipment, however Paul stayed throughout the changes, retiring in 2006.  He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and working on equipment.  He always had a line of people waiting for his expertise.

Left to cherish his memories are Michelle (Seth) Dallman of Tennessee, Melissa Wiig of Newcastle, Nebraska, Bryce Wiig of Arizona, Daityn Wiig Chase of Jackson, Nebraska, Ranae (Kent) Chase (Paul’s bonus daughter) of Jackson, Nebraska, sister June (George) Kourpias of Maryland, stepchildren Leda, Mike, and Kimi, grandchildren Kaley Twinn, Christopher Twinn Jr., Hannah Diede, Dakota Diede, Jessica Larson, Tristan Strassner, Erika Begnoche, and Landen Strassner, and numerous additional great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his son Darin Wiig, parents, sister Floydene, brothers Harold and Duane, nephew Tim Johnson, along with his wife Janet in 2022.
