Paul Kaiman, a dedicated businessman and respected community leader, passed away on April 22, 2026, at a local care facility in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 89. Paul, the son of Joseph and Dora (Kaplan) Kaiman was born on May 28, 1936, in Villisca, IA. Paul devoted much of his life to business, service, and the Jewish community, leaving behind a legacy that spans nearly nine decades.
Paul attended Sioux City Public Schools, completing his education at Central High School in 1954. Demonstrating a commitment to both academics and personal growth, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa in 1958. Shortly thereafter, he served his country as a member of the Iowa Air National Guard from 1958 to 1964, exemplifying a strong sense of duty and patriotism.
His professional career was marked by significant leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. Paul owned and managed Lanes Bottling Company for 48 years until his retirement in 2015, overseeing operations with integrity and dedication. In addition to his role as business owner, he worked in sales for various businesses for 30 years, utilizing his skills to foster growth and build lasting professional relationships. His membership in the National Bottlers Association highlighted his active engagement with industry peers.
Beyond his business pursuits, Paul was deeply involved in his community and faith. A lifelong member of the Jewish faith, he was associated originally with Shaare Zion Synagogue and was a current member of Congregation Beth Shalom. His leadership extended into community organizations where he served as past president of the Sioux City Jewish Federation — a testament to his commitment to communal welfare and cultural preservation. Furthermore, he dedicated twenty years to the AZA as local president, regional president, and chapter advisor, nurturing youth development and Jewish identity. His membership in the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple reflected his broad engagement in fraternal and civic activities.
Paul’s life was enriched by his family, who survive him and carry forward his enduring memory. He is survived by his wife, Suzi Kaiman of Sioux City, whom he married on December 22, 1973. Together, they built a family centered on love and mutual support. Their children include daughter Beth (Kaiman) Zwick of Sioux City, Iowa, and sons Josh Kaiman of Sioux City and Judd Kaiman of Boulder, Colorado. Paul was a proud grandfather to Dr. Sarah Zwick and Cody Crofts of St. Louis, Missouri, Rebbeca Zwick of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Zachary Zwick of Chicago, Illinois, as well as Elyse Kaiman of Boulder, Colorado. His brother, Robert Kaiman of Arlington, Virginia, also survives him. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dora (Kaplan) Kaiman.
