Paul W. Carlson, 56, of Sioux City, IA was called home to his Savior on Friday, June 9th, 2023.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. David Zirpel at the church. Paul was born December 22, 1966, in Sioux City, the son of Gordon Harold and Lennice Ann (McClintock) Carlson. He graduated from North High School in 1985 and from Morningside “Chiefs” in 1989. He worked at Payless Cashway. Paul then returned to school and graduated from Worsham Mortuary School in March of 1996 and began a long and successful career, working at Nelson-Berger Funeral Home, Schroeder Funeral Home, Fratze & Jensen Funeral Home and for the last 17 years was employed at Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes. Paul was a former volunteer firefighter and ambulance driver in Akron, Iowa and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
He married Julie (Muilenburg) on October 18, 1997 at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
Paul was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and just saw the Cubs play on Monday, June 5! He enjoyed powernaps, golf and (he just got a new driver and putter), beating the boys in Pickelball (and following the rules) police ride alongs with his nephew, Caleb, and playing cards, especially cribbage. He loved his Ford Ranger and traveling to Phoenix to be the best Funpa to his two granddaughters, Noelle and Emma. Paul had just completed an amazing vacation in San Diego with family.
Survivors include his wife Julie; 3 sons: Craig (Kina), Dan, and Thomas; granddaughters: Noelle and Emma; mother in law Lori Muilenburg, sister in law Lesa (Dennis) Kruger, brother in law Doug(Deb) Muilenburg, Paul H. Carlson; many nieces and nephews, and dogs Ivy and Walter and cat Pyper.
He was preceded in death by his mom Lennice Carlson, dad Gordon Carlson, brother Dave Carlson, sister-in-law Lori Carlson, niece Anne Carlson, and father-in-Law Harold Muilenburg.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Paul’s memory.
Having to wear a suit to work every day, Paul would want everyone to be casual and comfortable at the service and everyone is encouraged to wear your Cubs and Bears attire!
