Patrick "Pat" G. Pojar

Patrick "Pat" G. Pojar, 80, of South Sioux City, NE passed away due to heart complications on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery in Dakota City, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 11, 2016, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Patrick was born on September 2, 1935 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, the son of Herman and Rose (Kucera) Pojar. He attended school in South Sioux City, NE. He married Beverly Lumsden on February 2, 1952. They lived in South Sioux City. Pat worked at road construction for several years, traveling through Nebraska to Oklahoma until he got a small dump truck of his own. He had the opportunity to get in to the iron workers union, then he worked for Nebraska Steel Erection. After that he worked for Skidmore Crane Rental, a contract crane company for Cargill. He then had the opportunity to purchase the company, becoming self-employed and keeping the contract with Cargill until he retired at the age of 62. Pat's wife, Beverly passed away in 1992.Pat was a member of the Nebraska Horsemen's Assn., the Nebraska Thoroughbred Assn. and Sioux City Local 184 Iron Workers' Union.He enjoyed working with horses, working on vehicles and gardening.Survivors include his children, Terrie (Dale) Vitito of South Sioux City, NE, Chris (Marsha) Pojar of Cassville, WI and Amy King of Hollywood, FL; son-in-law, Don Benton of Sac City, IA; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Duane (Dona Rae) Pojar of Waubay, SD, Tom (Lisa) Pojar of South Sioux City, NE; sisters, Angie (Bill) Bradish of South Sioux City, NE, Marguerite (Cheryl) Roberts of Pender, NE, Vada Coan and Charlyne Snyder of South Sioux City, NE and Carolyn (Daniel) Angerman of Silt, CO; sisters-in-law, Liz Pojar of Omaha, NE and Cindy Pojar of South Sioux City, NE; and brother-in-law, Bill Leuenhagen of Boise, ID.He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Pojar; his children, Joe Pojar and Kim Benton; his parents, Herman and Rose Pojar; brothers, Leo, John, Bob, Wally, Virgil, and Larry Pojar; sisters, Adeline Evens and Lois Leuenhagen.
