Patricia A. Probasco, 91, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. No visitation is planned. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon at the Sioux City Country Club.
Patricia “Pat”, the daughter of Ralph and Mabel (Eyerly) Shoemaker, was born August 4, 1932, in Winterset, IA. Pat grew up and attended school in Winterset. During her senior year, she met her future husband, Gene A. Probasco, at a dance in her hometown. After graduating from Winterset High School, she attended Drake University in Des Moines.
On March 8, 1952, Pat was united in marriage to Gene A. Probasco in Denver, CO and this union was blessed with three daughters and one son. Early in their marriage, Pat worked different jobs while Gene finished his military service and completed his law degree at the University of Iowa. In 1957, they moved to Sioux City, IA. Gene practiced law in Sioux City and Pat was a stay-at-home mom. After raising her children and once they finished college, she completed her Liberal Arts degree at Morningside College.
Over the years, some of Pat’s hobbies included: golfing, reading, playing piano, playing bridge, and creating and enjoying art. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in several organizations including: PEO, St. Luke’s Medical Center Auxiliary, and LaSertoma. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering and serving on the boards of several community organizations.
She is survived by her children: Sherry Cobb of Denver, CO, Debbie (Dennis) Amick of Wilmette, IL, Cindy (Jim) Aspeotis of Sioux City, IA and Craig Probasco (Stacey) of Sioux City, IA; nine grandchildren: Lindsay Winters, Jennifer Cobb, Ashley Amick, Brett Amick, Grant Amick, Andy Aspeotis, Alex Aspeotis, Nick Aspeotis, and Kally Probasco; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Marcia Elder of Bloomfield, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene on May 26, 1999.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to any Veterans organization of choice.
Pat’s family would like to thank her caregivers at Holy Spirit for their wonderful and loving care.
