Patricia "Trish" Porter

Patricia “Trish” Porter, 77 of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at a local nursing facility.  A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at First Lutheran Church of South Sioux City, Nebraska with Reverend Patti Meyer officiating.   Burial will follow at Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Nebraska.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 26^th at the church with family present beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will begin Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Trish was born on March 15, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa.  She was lovingly accepted into the hands and hearts of Kenneth and Eileen (Alloway) Moore.   Trish attended school in South Sioux City, and graduated in 1965.  She attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.  

Trish married Robert “Bob” Porter on July 12, 1969 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska.   She began teaching in 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa where she taught for three years.  In 1972, Trish quit teaching and Bob and Trish welcomed their first son Brent.  She became a stay-at-home Mom and in 1975, they welcomed their second son, Rob.   Raising her sons with Bob and their beliefs were paramount to her.  She did not return to teaching full-time until she went to Homer, Nebraska where she retired after 29 years of teaching.

Bob and Trish were truly blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, Grace, Ty, Zachary, and Nicholas.  She loved every minute spent with them.

Trish is survived by her husband Bob; sons Brent and Rob (Amy); grandkids Grace, Ty, Zachary, and Nicholas; brothers Dennis Moore of South Sioux City and Scott Becker of Alliance, Nebraska; sisters Margie (Don) Beshoar of Joliet, Illinois, Carol Crum of Alliance, Nebraska, Deb (Rod) Planansky of Hemingford, Nebraska, and Donna Sherlock of Torrington, Wyoming.

In 2006, Trish took a leap-of-faith and contacted her biological siblings. She was ever grateful for their love and acceptance.

Trish was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Vera Porter, father-in-law Robert Porter, and sister-in-law Pam Moore.
