Patricia Joan "Pat" Danielson

Patricia Joan (Pat) Danielson, 72, of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family in her home on August 16, 2024 after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 23 at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral home in South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00. Pat was born on June 5, 1952 in Omaha to John and Mildred (Booze) Evers. She graduated from Wayne State College with a degree in Elementary Education and began her teaching career in Jackson, Nebraska. While in college, she met Dan Danielson, whom she later married on August 16, 1975. The couple moved to South Sioux City while Pat continued to teach in Jackson. Pat finished her career teaching kindergarten at Winnebago Public Schools. Being a teacher was her calling in life. Her passion for reading and her dedication to teaching young children how to read gave her immeasurable joy. 

In retirement, Pat found joy in simple pleasures, like reading thrillers, baking with her grandchildren, supporting local theatrical productions, traveling with her adventurous girlfriends (especially the ghost tours), monthly card club activities, and spotting the occasional cardinal around the neighborhood. She also treasured her part-time work at Palmer Candy Shop, where she satisfied her chocolate cravings and gained many friendships. Most of all she cherished time spent with her husband, her daughters and her grandchildren. Her face lit up when she shared stories of their accomplishments - she was so proud of them. “Grandma” was her favorite title of all. 

Pat will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her devotion as a mother, her impact as a teacher, her love as a wife, and her kindness as a friend. 

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Dan, her daughters Alicia (Kevin) Sypal with children Camille and Lisette, Andrea (Brent) Borkowski with children Drew and Sonya, her siblings Carol (Jay) McPheeters and Lonnie (Candy) Evers. Many in-laws, nieces and nephews will treasure her memory also.
