Patricia Gloria “Patti” Barrett, 96, was born in Sioux City in October of 1927 to George and Betsy Barrett. She passed away peacefully in October 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery.
Patricia, affectionately known as “Patti,” graduated from Central High School. Over the course of her life, she ventured to different states, including Louisiana and Florida, before ultimately returning to Sioux City to care for her beloved mother.
Patti was a woman ahead of her time; she embodied strength, independence, and had a sharp sense of humor. For four decades she was employed as a dental technician in New Orleans, Louisiana. She showcased unwavering dedication and skill in her profession. Even in her late 70s, she fearlessly entertained new interests, such as the art of woodcarving and caning furniture.
Her independence shone through in all aspects of her life, from handling her own mechanical work to caring for her two Brazilian parrots as if they were her own children. Patti’s quick wit and dry humor added an infectious spark to every interaction, leaving a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know her.
Patti’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sunrise Retirement Community, and specifically the Bernstein Unit, for their wonderful care of Patti for the last several years of her life.
Patti was preceded in death by her siblings: Lorraine Barger, Phyllis Boyle, JoAnn Miille, and George “Bo” Barrett. She is survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom cherished her deeply.
