McCook Lake, South Dakota

Pamella G. Butler-Ransford, 80, of McCook Lake, passed away peacefully at her home on August 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pam was born on July 23, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Annamae (Vachal) Bedell. She graduated from East High School in 1962. During her high school years, Pam made her mark as a member of the men's golf team, showcasing her competitive spirit and love for the game. 

Pam married John James “Jack” Butler Jr., to this union, two sons were born. Jack preceded Pam in death. She married David Ransford on September 9, 2004.

Pam was one of the first employees at FedEx in Sioux City, where she worked diligently from 1980 until her retirement. Her career was characterized by her strong work ethic and her ability to adapt to the evolving demands of the logistics industry. Her contributions to the company laid a foundation for the growth and success that FedEx has achieved over the years.

Pam found joy in playing pool and golfing, camping, traveling, and fishing. She particularly cherished her time spent in the Southwest during the winter months after retirement and the many times shared and memories made with friends and family.

Pam's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, David Ransford, and her children: John James "Jim" Butler III and his wife Kathy of Fremont, NE; Robert Butler and his wife Amy of Elk Point, SD; Matt Ransford of McCook Lake, SD; Brett Ransford of Marshall, MN; Randy Ransford of Sioux City; and Beau Ransford of Omaha, NE. She was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and a loving great grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren. Her family encompassed a network of in-laws, cousins, extended family, and great friends, all of whom she held dear in her heart.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Annamae Bedell; her first husband, John James "Jack" Butler Jr.; and her sister, Kathy Koskovich.

Her remarkable journey through life was one defined by care and commitment, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
