Orville Dwayne Kenowith, 79 of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with Reverend David Halaas officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation, will be on Friday, August 9th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Casket bearers for the service will be Verlan Hanson, Ron Rasmussen, Mike Hall, Andrew Zobel, Brad Pittenger, and Raymond Nagiewicz.

Orville was born on February 24, 1945 in Le Mars, Iowa to Wayne and Helen (Reich) Kenowith. He grew up on a farm northwest of Le Mars and attended Grant Township Country School through the 8th grade. Orville graduated from Le Mars Community Schools with the Class of 1963, after which, he worked for Whelan Motor Company as a mechanic. He also worked as a “Milkman” for Wells Blue Bunny and as a body man at the Bob Miller Body Shop after he attended classes at Western Iowa Tech for autobody. Orville found his niche at Northwestern Bell, working as a lineman and retired as a construction supervisor after working 30 years.

Orville married Diane Mayrose on March 27, 1965 in Le Mars, Iowa and moved from Le Mars to Sioux City in 1973. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church before enjoying his membership at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Orville enjoyed interests in automobiles, boating, fishing, and playing pool. 

Orville is survived by his wife Diane Kenowith; daughter Robin (Teri Slusarek) Kenowith; son Jonathan Kenowith; three granddaughters in Kansas City; four great-grandchildren; mother Helen; sisters Gloria (Jack) Lockwood and Linda (Ron) Popken; brother Rodney (Deb) Kenowith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Orville was preceded in death by his father.
