Orvall Allan Hindman, 86 of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at a local nursing facility. A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Military Honors will be offered by United States Navy Reserve. Abiding by Orvall’s wishes, burial will not be local, but his cremains ceremoniously spread in Depoe Bay, Oregon “Fleet of Flowers”. Memorials may be offered to his granddaughter Terra Bounchanh for designation at a later date.
Orvall was born on May 2, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Orlie and Kathryn (Levin) Hindman. He received his education at Leeds High School in Sioux City. He married Joan Holsinger on November 22, 1952 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Orvall served in the United States Navy from November of 1955 until February of 1958, and continued in the Navy Reserve until May of 1960.
Orvall returned to Sioux City, where he worked as a Sheet-Metal Worker before relocating to Oregon. He worked the Salishan Resort (golf course) in Lincoln City, Oregon for several years in the grounds department. Orvall decided later in life to return to Sioux City, where he continued his love of golf course work, joining the crew at the Dakota Dunes Golf Course. His wife Joan passed away in 2015 in Sioux City. Orvall later met and married Donna Hobbs in 2017.
Orvall is survived by his wife Donna Hindman of Sioux City; son Larry Hindman of Lincoln City, Oregon; sister Barbara Treglia; granddaughter Terra Bounchanh; grandsons: Ray Tucker, Jehmiah Walton, Larry Walton, and Rodney Walton, and many great-grandchildren.
Orvall was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, daughters Rae Ann and Terry, sister Nancy Good, granddaughter Christina, and grandson Adoma.
