Opal Mae Berger

South Sioux City, Nebraska

Opal Mae Berger78 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away peacefully at the Continental Springs nursing facility on Friday, February 2, 2024.  A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Dakota City United Methodist Church with Reverend Julie Raridan officiating.  Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to services.  Interment will be on Friday, June 28, 2024, on Opal's birthday, at the Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer, Nebraska.  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City is assisting the family with arrangements.  

Opal was born in Sioux City, Iowa to George and Doris (Harris) Berger.  She graduated from South Sioux City High School with the Class of 1963.  Opal was a baker, working in various food industries around Siouxland.  She enjoyed making and repairing dolls, having owned the Love Me Again Doll Hospital based out of Dakota City, Nebraska years ago.   Opal was a former member of the Sioux City Doll Club, and enjoyed her membership to the Dakota City United Methodist Church.

Opal is survived by her son Jeremy Berger of Winnebago, Nebraska; granddaughter Gabrielle “Gabby” (John Earth) Berger of Winnebago, Nebraska; bonus granddaughter Victtorya Korthals of Sioux City, Iowa; brother Ronald Berger of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Debra (Randy) Stortvedt of the Omaha, Nebraska area; and several nieces and nephews.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, brother William, and sisters Bonnie, Lola, and Judith.
