Norma Lee Olmstead, 92, of Sgt. Bluff, IA passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sgt. Bluff.
Cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned. Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes is assisting with arrangements.
Norma Lee, the daughter of Andrea Joseph and Violet Ethyl (Varallo) Giroldi, was born June 21, 1931, in Richmond, CA. Norma was raised in Richmond then moved to El Cerrito, CA during her teenage years where she graduated from high school.
Norma was united in marriage to Carlo Fracisco and one daughter was born to this union. Carlo passed away unexpectedly, and Norma married Nino Fracisco. Their union was blessed with four children. The family made their home in California and Norma worked for Sherwin Williams Paint Company. Norma and Nino’s marriage ended in divorce.
On October 21, 1967, Norma married Sidney “Earl” Olmstead in Reno, NV. They made their home in Livermore, CA until the early 1970’s when they moved to Sgt. Bluff, IA. Norma worked in accounting at Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Sioux City until her retirement. Earl passed away on December 25, 1984, and Norma continued living in Sioux City until moving back to California in the early 1990’s. In recent months, she moved back to Sioux City.
Norma enjoyed bowling and doing embroidery work. In later years, she enjoyed shopping and looking for bargains.
She is survived by her children: Marlayna (Pat) Mancebo, Marc (Cheryl) Fracisco, Neil (Susan) Fracisco, and Mona (Earl) Casady; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jody Varallo; one nephew, Kenneth (Denise) Varallo, and one niece, Lisa Varallo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; brother, Raymond; and son, Craig Fracisco.
