Norma Jean Eriksen

Hubbard, Nebraska

Norma Jean Marie Eriksen died Saturday March 23rd 2024 at her son's home in Hubbard, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Thursday March 28th, from 5-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30 in the Hubbard Community Center, 310 Nebraska Street, Hubbard, Nebraska.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 29th at 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 204 Main Street, Hubbard with Pastor Dave Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, Nebraska.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hubbard.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com 

 

Norma was born December 13th 1931 to William and Helen (Andresen) Demke. She was raised in rural Hubbard and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1949.

 

She married Charles Eriksen on June 18th 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hubbard. To this union, four boys were born. Norma and Chuck raised their family in rural Hubbard. She worked side by side on the farm as well as part time as a mail carrier which later transitioned to Postmaster of Hubbard Post Office. 

 

Norma was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served in any capacity needed, especially dishwashing at the annual breakfast. She was a member of Harty McNally Legion Auxiliary and Hillside Extension Club.

 

Charles died January 17th 2007 and she moved to town where she enjoyed time with her grandkids, sister, and many friends she made throughout her life.  She was well known for her positive outlook and endless words of encouragement. Her time as Postmaster was spent delivering mail but more importantly good advice. 

 

She was an encourager to many and the very best Grandma her grandchildren ever knew. They will all gladly attest to that! 

 

Norma is survived by three sons, Gary(Pete) and wife Patti (Block) Eriksen; Terry and Merrie (Taylor) Eriksen of Hubbard and Doug and Kathy (Johnson) Eriksen of Holdrege, Nebraska and daughter-in-law Penny Eriksen Olson of Omaha.

 

She is also survived by her favorite people, her grandchildren. Dr Erich and Jill Eriksen of Kearney MO, Chad and Michelle Olson of Madison WI, and Reid Olson of Omaha NE, Brad and Tatum Eriksen of Seward NE, Kayla and Fred Vizcarra of Rosharon TX, Katie and Susie Eriksen of Hubbard NE, Jarod Eriksen and Andy of Allen NE, Nathaniel and Lana Eriksen of Spearfish SD, Betsy and Marc Anderson of Emerson NE, Chance Eriksen and Gabby of Sioux City IA, Laura and Jeremy Dalland and Brian and Leih Anne Eriksen of Kearney NE. 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

 

She is also survived by her best friend and sister Mary Ann and Jim Beacom of Hubbard NE and Bill Demke of Wayne NE as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck, son Jerry, brothers Wilbur, Walt and Eileen Demke.
