Noah Matthew Holcomb, 41, of Omaha, NE, passed away on October 9, 2024. Born on July 9, 1983, to Fred and JoAnne Holcomb, Noah was a spirited and visionary entrepreneur known for his passion for cycling and his business acumen.
Noah grew up in Sioux City, IA and graduated from East High School in 2002. It was there he met his future wife, Holly. They were together for 10 years before marrying in June 2011. They made their home in Southern California, eventually relocating back to the Midwest in 2020.
Noah attended California State University Long Beach, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation Management and a Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration. His post-graduate work included an extended internship at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy where he acted as the organization’s mountain bike program expert, helping to develop skills courses and leading guided group tours within the conservancy.
Cycling was at the core of Noah's existence. Noah completed his first mountain bike race at the age of 13 and never looked back. He received his first team sponsorship just one year later and turned Pro at age 21. He was known in the cycling community for his competitive spirit, dedication, and style. Throughout his 20s, Noah traveled the United States competing in hundreds of races. A few of his achievements include being selected for the Junior Olympic Development Program and winning Junior races across Iowa and Nebraska. He was the California State Champion in 2008 and 2009 in Cyclocross Single Speed. He raced at the National level with the top mountain bike racers in the world, including traveling to Europe for World Cup races and the World Championships in France in 2012. Prior to his passing, Noah had plans for competing at the Master's level and had been approved for entry to the 2025 Masters World Championships in Cairns, Australia.
Beyond cycling, Noah had a love for luxury cars and history and had a mind that was always tinkering and full of ideas. His entrepreneurial journey was marked by the establishment of multiple business ventures, including a successful bike shop, Stage 21, in Laguna Hills, CA, which he opened with his childhood best friend. He had an impeccable eye for design in every facet of his life, exemplified by his later role as VP of Operations for Gold Flora in California.
Noah's life was rich with the love of his family. He is survived by his wife, Holly Holcomb; his loving mother, JoAnne Holcomb; his brother, Tim Holcomb and wife Stacey, nephew Drew Holcomb, niece Brooklyn Holcomb, and nephew Hyatt Holcomb; his sister, Laurie Holcomb and husband Dan Thompson; his brother, Perry Holcomb and fiancé Rhonda Delgado; and many more loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Noah was preceded in death by his father, Fred Holcomb.
The family will hold a service to celebrate Noah's life at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home in Sioux City, IA. His legacy of determination and spirit of adventure will be remembered by all who knew him.
