Neva Jeanine Anderson, 75, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at a local hospital following a courageous battle with ALS.

A Celebration of Neva’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at United Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Jorgensen officiating. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.

Neva was born on March 4, 1951, in Sioux City, the daughter of Raymond and Shirley (Olson) Anderson. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1969 and later attended Western Iowa Tech Community College, where she earned her LPN license.

Neva first worked at Iowa Beef before beginning a career in healthcare. She dedicated many years to caring for others while working at several area nursing homes, concluding her career with her retirement from Sunrise Retirement Community.

In her younger years, Neva enjoyed playing softball and was an avid bowler. She loved watching game shows and listening to music, especially Meat Loaf. One of her favorite memories was attending one of his concerts at the Orpheum Theatre. Neva treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life and especially looked forward to her monthly “cousins’ lunches,” where she enjoyed catching up and sharing laughter with family.

A member of United Lutheran Church, Neva was baptized there and, on March 26, married her best friend and soulmate, Debra “Debbie” Gallagher, on their 39th anniversary together. Their love story spanned an incredible 48 years filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving wife, Debbie Gallagher of Sioux City; siblings, Jeff (Deb) Anderson of Sioux City, Gary (Stephanie) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska, sister-in-law Deanne Anderson of Keller, Texas, Susan (Danny) Wilde of Sioux City, Marlys Anderson of Lafayette, Indiana, and Laurie Anderson of Sioux City; sister-in-law Linda (Ken “Crash”) Kummer of Sioux City; brother-in-law, John (Sara) Gallagher of Bennington, Nebraska; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and special cousins.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Randy Anderson; and her niece, Angel Wilde.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sherry, Joette, and Glenda for their unwavering support and compassion, as well as to the ALS Foundation, Westwood Specialty Care, and Care Initiatives for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Neva throughout her journey.
