Neil F. Bobenmoyer, 90, son of Marion and Sallie (Moody) Bobenmoyer, was born on December 2, 1934, in Santee, Nebraska and died on July 22, 2025, in Alcester, South Dakota.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Obert City Cemetery.

Neil Bobenmoyer lived in Santee until his parents moved to Minnesota. Neil started school in Minnesota then his family moved back to Santee, Nebraska, where he went to school at the Santee Mission, where his mother taught school. The family then moved to Obert, Maskell area, where he went to school in Obert through 8th grade and Maskell through 11th grade, then moved to Elk Point, South Dakota with his family and graduated from Elk Point High School.

He was baptized in the Congregational Church at Santee, Nebraska and later at the Methodist Church in Maskell, Nebraska.

Neil served in the United States Army from 1955 through 1957, as a mechanic on heavy equipment for the 4th armed division.

Neil married H. Marie Church on March 7, 1962. They had 45 years together.

Neil started working for the bridge crew in Dixon County before returning to mechanics. He worked various jobs including the Anfinson Garage in Obert, John Deere in Hartington, Massey Ferguson in Yankton, and later the State of Nebraska Department of Roads, where he retired with 33 years of service. Neil also was on the Obert Village Board of Trustees for 36 years, 34 years as the Village Clerk, and helped with street maintenance and mowing. After retirement from the State, Neil still took care of things in Obert that needed attention.

Some of his favorite past times were cutting firewood, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and a good conversation.

Survivors include his sister June and husband Norman Anderson; two stepdaughters: Linda and Lorraine; special friend Hazel Stark and beloved dog Abby, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, one sister Jean Herfel, a brother Paul Bobenmoyer, his parents Marion and Sallie Bobenmoyer, and his in-laws Floyd and Marjorie Brown.
