She was born on September 10, 1945, in Olympia, WA, to Charles and Frances Peck Fellows. She grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating from Washington High School in 1963. She spent one year at Northwestern University and then finished her B.A. in Journalism and Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After graduating college in 1967, she married Joe Wittwer and later divorced. She earned her master’s degree in educational administration and certification in library media. Nancy’s career as a teacher and eventually the library media specialist in Falls City spanned across 40 years.
