Mitchell J. "Mitch" VanRooyan

Mitchell J. VanRooyan, 50 of Papillion passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Mitch was born the son of Larry and Rebecca (DeJong) VanRooyan on May 22, 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from West High School in 1991 and attended the University of South Dakota. Mitch married Kerry Dobbs on March 30, 2013. He spent many years in management with Tractor Supply Company that kept him moving around the Midwest. He later worked as a carpenter for Daly Construction for about 15 years and most recently was a foreman at Paul Davis Restoration.

Mitch had a love for the outdoors, animals, and grilling. He was always active, on his feet doing something. He had a creative gift to visualize building things and was very talented with his hands. He was hardworking and always willing to help his friends in a time of need. He will be missed for his sarcastic whit and good sense of humor.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Kerry VanRooyan; son, Ben VanRooyan; parents, Larry and Becky VanRooyan; sister, Mollie (Brian) Clough; nephews, Matthew, Evan and Colin Clough; step children, Justin Osborne and Jennifer Conkel; and step grandchildren, Hallie Osborne and Cole Conkel.

He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Matthew.
