Mike Martin, Jr.

Mike Martin, Jr., 70, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Milan, Missouri.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, with military rites following the service at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences to the family may be posted at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Mike was born in Muscatine, Iowa on August 7, 1942, the son of Viola Creamer and Mike Martin, Sr. He grew up in Muscatine and graduated from Muscatine High School. He sold insurance briefly before he entered the Army during the Vietnam War. He started driving a truck at a very early age. Mike moved to South Sioux City in the early 80's. He married Margaret Goreham on December 18, 1991 in Elk Point, S.D. For the last several years he drove a truck for Bill Rohde in Homer, NE.He was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion Post #307.Mike was a very free spirit. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. He loved trucking, his cats, and the Chicago Cubs.Survivors include his wife, Margaret Martin of South Sioux City, NE; step-children, Rick (Shelly) Twiford of Dakota City, NE, Jerry Twiford of Stockton, CA, Terry Twiford of Papillion, NE, Bert (Sherri) Twiford of Sioux City, IA, Becky (Rick) Hansen of South Sioux City, NE; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Martin of Santa Maria, California, Steve (Denise) Martin of Naperville, IL, Jerry Martin of Muscatine, IA, Donnie Reiner of Muscatine, IA; a sister, Sheryl (Paul) Bendenle of Santa Maria, California; and many nieces and nephews.Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Mike Martin, Sr.; and a brother, David Martin.
