Miguel Angel De Leon, 45, of South Sioux City, a cherished son, husband, father, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at an Omaha hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation for Miguel will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE, which will include a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will take place the following day, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Born on September 2, 1980, the son of Jose Cruz and Maria Rebeca (Mercado) De Leon, Miguel lived a life filled with kindness and unwavering positivity.
Throughout his career as a foreman for a construction company, Miguel's dedication to hard work was evident. He approached every task with the same fervor he employed in his personal life, always striving to help others and be the best version of himself. His infectious smile and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Miguel was known for his strong faith and trusting in God’s will, love of his family, and love of life - enjoying trips to the beach, listening to music, dancing, and visiting Mexico. The evenings spent watching movies with his family were among his most treasured moments, where he would often share stories that brought joy and laughter to everyone around him.
Though he faced challenges, Miguel's positivity remained a cornerstone of his being. He was always more concerned about others’ well-being, offering his help and support without hesitation. His legacy of love, care, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Miguel is survived by his beloved wife, Maria De Leon, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they had the joy of raising four wonderful sons: Miguel Angel De Leon Jr., Donovan De Leon, Aldo De Leon, and Emiliano De Leon. Miguel's love for his children was boundless, and he took immense pride in being a nurturing father, always encouraging them to chase their dreams. Miguel is also survived by his loving mother, Maria Rebeca De Leon and his beloved brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father Jose Cruz De Leon.
