Michael Todd Cuka, "The Man, The Myth, The Legend" 65, passed away Tuesday, April 4th2023 at home with his wife, Connie, due to a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on August 3rd, 1957, to Raymond and Elizabeth Cuka in Dallas, Texas. He attended school in Yankton, South Dakota. This is where he met Connie and the Meyers family, who welcomed him as part of their own. Mike and Connie were married on July 21st, 1978. They had one daughter Amy (Eric), and a son Jackie. Mike was an adoring Grandpa to his granddaughters Camille, Corinne, and Cire. He took them on thousands of adventures throughout the years, teaching them many lessons and showing them unconditional love and admiration.
Although Mike had no formal degrees, he was an educated man and a fountain of knowledge in many areas. He was an avid outdoorsman who was at home in nature. Mike was a proud business owner who created Triple C (Connie, Camille, Corinne) Trucking. Before running his trucking company, he worked lugging beef at IBP and Siouxland packing houses. He then tried his hand at concrete work for many years before venturing into the Trucking business. Mike retired in 2019 to spend more time with family and friends. He made lifelong friends like John Keller and Scott Schwartzbauer, who he loved like brothers.
Mike welcomed everyone into his home with a plate of food, a beer, and a smile. Mickey Kraatz and Ron Cleveland were his "Partners in Crime" and two of the most loyal friends a guy could ask for. They went on many hunting, fishing, and golfing expeditions over the years, creating many wonderful memories. Mike shared many holidays and special occasions with the Strims, Al and Terry, who became family over the years. Mike had a huge physical presence and a personality that filled the room. He will be greatly missed, but we are so thankful that we got to have him for as long as we did, and he will live on forever in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Elizabeth Cuka, his parents-in-law Jack and Faye Meyers, grandparents-in-law Nick and Velma Meyers, brothers Ray Jr, Jim, and Charlie, sister Cheryl and sister-in-LawDebbie.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, Children Amy and Eric Strim, and Jackie. Granddaughters Camille, Corinne, and Cire. Sisters Dawn, Beth, and brother Tim. Sister-in-law Diane (Mike) Bovero and brother-in-law Jackie Ray (Diane) Meyers. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at this time. Instead, Mike's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 22nd at the American Legion in South Sioux City, NE.
