Michael "Mick" L. Irwin, 82 of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026. A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Heartland Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Mick was born the son of Richard and Ora (Teller) Irwin on May 13, 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in McCook Lake, South Dakota and graduated from Jefferson High School. On June 10, 1968, he married the love of his life Nancy Cabana. They were happily married for 56 years and during that time they welcomed three children.
Mick was the owner of Irwin Construction for many years and also owned Irwin Records Management, where he continued working until his retirement. He took great pride in running his businesses and enjoyed staying busy. In his free time, Mick loved biking and fishing. He especially enjoyed traveling to Alaska for fishing trips, where he made many unforgettable memories. Mick and Nancy enjoyed traveling together and lived in Fountain Hills, Arizona for a few years before returning to the Siouxland area.
Mick is survived by his two daughters, Michaelene (Irwin) Brownfield and Shelley (Irwin) Goodell and her husband Larry; six grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie) Christiansen, Rachel (Phil) Zander, Brittany (George) Davis, Sydney Goodell, Alex Goodell, and Nicholas Goodell; and five great grandchildren, Jayda Davis, Elijah Christiansen, Kingston Davis, Marina Zander and Finn Zander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy, and son, Mark Hoefling.
