He was a proud graduate of Heelan High School. He went on to attend Regis University, USD, and even Loras College while briefly considering the priesthood. Most will remember Mike as being in the insurance business. He also worked in the stockyards and was a transportation connoisseur, he even once owned a pirate ship. He enjoyed all kinds of sporting events, especially Heelan games or anything his kids and grandkids were playing. He also enjoyed Briar Cliff basketball and Penn Corp/NHCD fastpitch softball. If you ever passed his house on Jennings back in the 1990s he maintained the most beautiful and vibrant flower garden. In retirement, he spent many winters in Mission, TX and Mesa, AZ. It was there he picked up the hobby of woodcarving and joined the Northwest Iowa Wood Carvers Club.
