Mike was born on February 15, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa to Richard and Mary Isabelle Lennon. He was raised primarily in Sioux City, spending a short time of his childhood in Kansas City. He was a proud graduate of Heelan High School. He went on to attend Regis University, USD, and even Loras College while briefly considering the priesthood. Most will remember Mike as being in the insurance business. He also worked in the stockyards and was a transportation connoisseur, he even once owned a pirate ship. On May 23, 1964, he married Jan Johnson in Worthington, Minnesota, and to this union four children were born.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. During warm months he liked to fish and golf. He was also a member of the Hawkeye Club. He enjoyed all kinds of sporting events, especially Heelan games or anything his kids and grandkids were playing. He also enjoyed Briar Cliff basketball and Penn Corp/NHCD fastpitch softball. If you ever passed his house on Jennings back in the 1990s he maintained the most beautiful and vibrant flower garden. In retirement, he spent many winters in Mission, TX and Mesa, AZ. It was there he picked up the hobby of woodcarving and joined the Northwest Iowa Wood Carvers Club. Mike was known for his very gregarious personality, telling tall tales of his different adventures, always hoping to get a laugh out of those around him.

Left to cherish his memory include his children: Michael P. Lennon, Jr. and wife Betty, of Houston, TX, their children Michael P Lennon, III (Tripp) and Margaret (Maggie).  Michelle L. Linden and husband Steve, of Sioux City, their children Brittany Hodge and her husband Corey, Steven and his wife Stephanie, Alexander (Alex), Benjamin (Ben), and Andrew(Andy, as ONLY Grandpa was allowed to call him); Mark A.
