Michael L "Mike" Jones

Michael L. “Mike” Jones, 67, of Hull, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at a local hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Kristine Stedje officiating.  Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Mike was born November 15, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Delores (Bemrich) Jones.  He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1974.  After beginning his career as a Firefighter for the Fort Dodge Fire Department for 19 years, Mike also worked as a butcher for Sawers Meats, and other jobs around the community.  He was a Lifetime Member of The Izaak Walton League.  After retirement, Mike’s outgoing nature made him the perfect Walmart greeter.      

Mike married Rhonda Heikes on February 15, 2022 in Sioux Center, Iowa.  Mike’s love of the outdoors led him on many motorcycle rides, hunting excursions, and fishing trips.  He and Rhonda met while enjoying dirt track racing in Boone, Iowa, and that became a yearly tradition along with other trips to different racetracks.  Mike also enjoyed woodworking.  He was the kindest man, knowing no strangers and making many friends. 

Survivors include his wife Rhonda Jones of Hull, IA; children:  Chris (Elisabeth) Jones of Gilmore City, IA, Amber (Kyle) Sorenson of Dayton, IA, Dustin Jones of Fort Dodge, IA, and Jeffrey Jones of Dayton, Iowa; stepchildren:  Nichole (Ben) Case, Christopher Heikes, Matthew Sims (Seremonie), Mark Sims, Rachael Sims (fiancé Brenden), and Jessica (Brandon) Scott; twelve grandchildren; a brother Mark (Shawna) Jones of Jeffers, MN; and brothers-in-law:  Michael Heikes (fiance Shelley) and Darrick (Wendy) Heikes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Danny, a sister Pam, and a daughter-in-law Lisa Jones.

A Celebration of life will be held at 4:00 P.M. on July 9^th, 2022 at Amigos Bar, 280 N 1st Street, Fort Dodge, IA.
