Michael A. Keagle

October 2, 1945 — May 31, 2025

Sioux City

Michael A. Keagle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and longtime Sioux City business owner, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born on October 2, 1945, to Edith Skidmore Keagle and Stanley Keagle, both of whom preceded him in death, Mike spent his life in Sioux City, where he became a cherished part of the community. He graduated from Leeds High School and went on to earn his degree from Morningside College in 1968.

That same year, Mike took over ownership of the Westside Dairy Queen, a local institution he proudly ran for nearly four decades until his retirement in 2006. Through the years, he was more than a business owner—he was a friendly face, a mentor to many young employees, and a generous presence in the neighborhood.

Mike married the love of his life, Doreen Dyer Keagle, on August 17, 1968. Together, they shared over five decades of love, laughter, and adventure. They raised two children: daughter Kim Keagle Means and her husband Shane Means, and son Matt Keagle and his wife Lisa Harrington Keagle. Mike was a proud grandfather to Cody, Mason, Lucy, and Luke, each of whom brought him great joy and pride.

Outside of work and family, Mike lived life to the fullest. He loved fishing, bowling, woodworking, and golfing, always finding time to enjoy the outdoors and create with his hands. He and Doreen traveled often, especially cherishing their trips to Minnesota, Hawaii, and California.

Mike will be remembered for his kindness, his deep love for his family, his quiet strength, and the legacy he built through hard work and generosity. His impact on those who knew him will be felt for generations.
