Michael S. Karr, affectionately known as Mike, was born on April 30, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Paul Chester Karr Sr. and Dorothy McGraw.
Mike attended Leeds High School, graduating with the class of 1969. After completing his education, he honorably served his country in the United Navy, a reflection of his commitment and dedication.
On July 6, 1985, Mike married the love of his life, Pamela "Pam" (Shkerich), in Elk Point, South Dakota.
Mike embarked on a long career, dedicating 33 years to Sioux City Brick and Tile, along with 30 years at the Sioux City Journal. Throughout his career, he was known for his unwavering work ethic and loyalty.
Outside of work, Mike was passionate about camping and enjoyed motorcycles. He was a proud member of an all-left-handed bowling league, showcasing his talent and love for the sport. He found joy in these hobbies, which brought him closer to friends and family. He cherished his two Sheltie dogs: Ave' and Enya and his three cats: Biscuit, Muffin, and his beloved gray Cupcake who was his faithful companion. Mike was a member of Wesley Global Methodist Church in Sioux City.
On September 20, 2024, Mike passed away in Sioux City, Iowa, following a brief illness at the age of 74. His departure is deeply felt by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Pamela; his son Steven; his daughter Jennifer; his son Shay; his stepson Shad and family; his stepdaughter Shawn and family; ten grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. Their lives have been enriched by his presence, and he will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters, who will greet him once more in eternity.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Wesley Global Methodist Church, located at 3700 Indian Hills Drive, Sioux City, Iowa. There will be a luncheon following the service.
As we remember Mike, we honor a man whose life was defined by service, dedication, and profound love for his family. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
