Michael Gunderson

Michael Gunderson, 76, of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at a local care center.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. 

Mike was born May 18, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Arnt and Margaret (Stautat) Gunderson.  Mike married Barbara Sue Anderson on March 28, 2003.  She preceded him in death on August 27, 2021.  Mike worked as a chef for most of his life at various restaurants including the Hilton Garden Inn.  He loved watching WWE and western movies, especially Gunsmoke.  He also enjoyed writing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Survivors include his son Michael James Gunderson; daughter Misty Dawn Gunderson; granddaughter Kaylee Suhorepetz (David Gifford); granddaughter Destiny Suhorepetz; grandson Christian Suhorepetz; five great grandchildren; sisters: Dawn, Alma, and Lil; and a brother: Doug. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and stepdaughter Melanie Pokett.
