Michael Gerard Crowley, 63 passed away Thursday February 23rd 2023 at his home in Dakota Dunes, SD. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM, Saturday March 4th 2023 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd. in Sioux City, IA. A reception will be held after the service at Briar Cliff University, Roth Atrium, Heelan Hall,  Sioux City, IA, from  3:00 until 5:00 PM. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers or otherwise, to the Michael Crowley Scholarship Fund at Briar Cliff University through the link provided: CLICK HERE. 

 Michael was born April 3rd 1959 to John F and Donna K (St. Charles) Crowley in Detroit, MI. He attended Covina High School and graduated in 1977.  He continued his education at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA and completed his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at California State University, Sacramento. He then attended Ball State University, Municie, IN,  where he graduated with a master’s degree in Documentary Photojournalism in 1988. Michael was a professor at Briar Cliff University since 1989 when he first moved to Sioux City, IA. In 2000, he relocated to Dakota Dunes, SD. Michael enjoyed photography, especially judging photography at many of the county fairs. He exhibited his photography in many venues as  a professional photographer, and received many awards. He also filled his leisure time listening to and enjoying music. But probably the most Important thing in his life was the students he was able to educate, mentor, guide and befriend many of which became lifelong friends of his.

He Is survived by his brother, Kevin Crowley of Apache Junction AZ, sister Kathleen Crowley of Arvada Co, sister Gina Chinni of Noblesville IN, and sister Maria McIntyre of Bluffton, SC.  Michael also had many nieces and nephews. Nieces - Rhiannon Arrugas Jenna Fell, Shea Crowley, Patience Fantini, Randi Crowley, Providence Webb, Siobhan Kilburn, Carolyn German, Claire Bilik, Abigail Weiss, Kaylia McIntyre, and Gabriella McIntyre. Nephews -Christopher Crowley, Brendan Helliwell, Daniel Crowley, J K Crowley, Caoinlean Crowley, Tadhgain Crowley, Garret Chinni, Daniel Bilik, Michael Bilik, and Timothy Bilik. He was preceded in death by sister, Michelle Bilik
