Michael David Audino

August 24, 1956 — March 29, 2024

Sioux City, Iowa

Michael David Audino passed away March 29, 2024, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the

Rev. Roger J. Linnan officiating. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon after

the burial at St. Michael’s parish hall. A celebration of life will be that evening from 5:00 to 8:00

at Buffalo Alice’s Restaurant.

Mike was born on August 24, 1956, he attended St. Boniface and Blessed Sacrament grade

schools, Heelan High School, and Iowa State University.

Mike spent his career working at Audino Construction with his father. He had a passion for

detail and design and his legacy will live on in the structures he helped build in and around

Sioux City including the Flanagan Center at Briar Cliff College, the Trade and Industries

Building at Western Iowa Tech and the welcome center at the Carmelite Monastery. Mike loved

to talk about construction and the jobs on which he was working. He could explain a blueprint

and the construction of a building in such minute detail that his “lessons” would rival any YouTube video on the subject.

Beyond blueprints and hard hats, Mike had a passion for cooking and music. His musical

knowledge and collection spanned multiple decades and genres. He loved to share his music

and culinary skills with others. He hosted chili feeds and & “Saturday In The Park” parties where music,

food and laughter filled the house -- a place where the door was always open.

Mike was a complex man filled with dichotomy — he was introverted yet welcoming; tough but

tender; discriminating but accepting; exacting of himself but unconditionally accepting of others.

He had a quick wit that could leave you perplexed and a slow smile that could melt your heart.

He never met a stranger -- all were welcome regardless of their station in life. His smile and

humor will be missed but there is solace in knowing he is now at peace.

Mike was preceded in death by his partner Julie Jons LaPlante.

He was survived by his parents: Frank and Mary Ann Audino, his siblings Tony (Michelle) Audino, Lisa Audino-Davisson (Joe Davisson), Angel (Craig) Averman, David (Erin) Audino, Nicole (Jason) McDermott, Rory (Lindsey) Audino; and Katie LaPlante and Rachael Kobes and many nieces, nephews and friends.
