Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce "we lost our party of one"

And the story goes...

Michael J. Allard, 68, of Elk Point, SD, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born on October 12, 1957, to Alfred and Annette Allard, Mike was raised with strong values of hard work that he carried throughout his life. He attended St. Peters Catholic School and graduated from Jefferson High School.

Mike truly enjoyed life, so much so that it seemed he lived two lifetimes full of fun. He was known for his incredible sense of humor and his ability to make anyone smile. He found peace and happiness in the simple things: mushroom hunting, being in nature, and watching sunrises and sunsets. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he loved attending concerts, often alongside his good friend George Norton.

Mike was also a dedicated pool player, participating in a league for many years for "Whimps" in Burbank, South Dakota. He shared many great times with his teammates and friends Steve "Buzz" Johnson, Rob Leckband, Jim "Skinny" Smith, Steve Prescott, and Jason "Skinny" Leaver.

Farming was more than a job for Mike; it was his calling. Born and raised into farm life, he worked side by side with his dad, brother Steve, and nephew Blake. Even after retiring, he could never fully step away, always staying hand-on and connected to the land he loved.

Above all, Mike was one of the most honest, loyal, and caring people anyone could ever meet. His kindness knew no bounds, and he was loved deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his best friend and cherished wife of 20 years, Tammy; sister, Renee Ries; brothers, Steve (Jane) and Jim; brother-in-law, Mike Bartek; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Anthony, Ben, Jason, Marni, Alissa, and Blake in addition to many cherished cousins and friends.

He was a proud and devoted stepfather to Beau Lundquist, Joslin Albert, and Michael Kemp, as well as Andi Geary and Cassie Schwartz from a previous marriage~ loving each of them as his own.

The light of Mike's life was his grandson, Alex Albert. He cherished every moment spent with him and could never get enough of their time together. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Seger.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Annette Allard; brother-in-law, Jerry Ries; his sisters, Nancy Bartek and Janet Allard; and his nephew Joseph Ries.

Mike will be remembered for his laughter, his unwavering kindness, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and the life he lived. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

......."Enjoy every sandwich".
