Maxine M. Percell

July 26, 1936 — November 19, 2025

Sioux City

Maxine Merle Percell, 89, of Sioux City, passed away November 19, 2025.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 24, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Maxine was born the daughter of Lester and Merle (Larson) Walke on July 26, 1936 in Soldier, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School. Maxine married Marvin Percell on July 20, 1958 in Sioux City. Together they raised three children and enjoyed 67 years together until Marvin passed away earlier this year.

Maxine started working at KCOM Radio after high school and then became the secretary to the president of Morningside College. She then worked in the medical field, first at Mumford, Keane, Paulsrud & Wheeler, later known as Northwest Iowa Orthopedics, before retiring from Unity Point St. Luke’s as a transcriptionist.

At the center of Maxine’s life was her family. She loved spending time with her children, going to family gatherings and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She loved having flowers in her home and watching birds in her feeder, especially cardinals. Maxine was also very patriotic, and it was important to her to stay educated on current political events.

Maxine is survived by her children, Craig (Jodee) Percell of Sioux City, Kim (Ron) Kerkhoff of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, and Karen (Brian) Ulven of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Diane Head.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Marvin.
