Matthew Barchers

Matthew “Matt” Barchers, 41, died on Monday July 17, 2023. He was born on February 27, 1982, to Bill and Cindy Barchers in Kansas City Missouri. His formative years were spent finding adventures, cultivating his Lego collection, and eating a lot of cereal. A voracious reader and writer, Matt graduated from North Kansas City High School in 2000 where he was a clarinetist in the marching band. In college, he studied poetry and literature. Matt’s wife was Rachel May Evans with whom he shared two young boys: Henry and Cameron. 

Matt was known for his intellect and for his habit of loudly singing in public locations. He loved nothing more than a good steak, an obscure historical fact, and a Nicholas Cage movie. He was the kind of person who could make a friend just about everywhere he went with his twinkling blue eyes and a razor-sharp wit. He enjoyed ridiculous TikTok’s (the weirder the better) and sassy cats. If you ever needed a hug, Matt had one ready for you - and it was always a good one.

He is survived by his wife and sons, his mother and his sisters Melissa, Faith, and Lily. Matt’s dad preceded him in death. Matt was loved, and he will be greatly missed.
