Mary "Joann" Kleinberg

Mary “Joann” Kleinberg, 87, of South Sioux City passed away Friday, July 22, 2022.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Mary was born the daughter of Caryl and Auley (Wernet) Stewart on June 15, 1935 in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1953.  She married her high school sweetheart, Terrance Kleinberg on September 3, 1954.  They made their home in South Sioux City. 

Joann worked for the telephone company as an operator and for a time in sales until her retirement. 

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church for 73 years.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible school for many years.

Joann is survived by her daughters, Jodean (Jeff) Graybill of Sioux City and Pam (Darren) DeVries of Sergeant Bluff; sister, Bonnie (Mike) Prosser of South Sioux City; son-in-law, Mike Hartman of South Sioux City; grandchildren, Patrick Hartman, Jillian (Jaron) Koch, Megan (Kyle) Biggerstaff, Terrance (Kelly) Weaver, Trista (Derrick) Colyer, Tessa (Weston) Reller, Rebecca DeVries, and Keegan DeVries; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terrance; daughter, Kerri; and brothers, Caryl, Gary, and Jimmy.
