Mary Beth Cummins

Mary Beth Cummins, 78 of South Sioux City passed away Monday, October 14, 2024. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be held at a later date at Dakota City Cemetery. 

Mary was born the daughter of Francis and Gladys (Curtis) Bunch on May 3, 1946 in Clarksville, Arkansas. She graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1964 and beauty school thereafter. Mary married Vern Cummins on November 20, 1965. They made their home in South Sioux City and enjoyed 58 years together. 

Mary worked as a special education paraprofessional for 34 years. She touched the lives of so many students during her time there and loved watching them grow. 

Mary was a longtime active member of Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed helping with the blind luncheon every Monday and also attended Bible classes. She was a proud 25 gallon member of the Blood Bank. She also enjoyed singing, sewing, quilting, and cooking.

Mary is survived by her husband, Vern Cummins of South Sioux City; daughter, Shelli (Randy) Rasmussen of South Sioux City; grandchildren, Dustyn (Jen) Jensen and Dillon Jensen; and siblings, Linda (Dick) Johnson, Sandy (Chuck) Wall, and Mike (Carolyn) Bunch.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
